OUR MISSION IS TO PREVENT CAVITIES
Dental care continues
to advance, enabling us to give better care than ever. Proper dental care for children will promote healthier permanent teeth.
By working together it is possible to keep you child's natural teeth for a lifetime!
Your child's first set of teeth,
the primary teeth, are very important. Strong, healthy primary teeth help your child chew food easily, learn to speak clearly,
guide permanent tooth eruption and help maintain your child's over all health and self-image.
To maintain healthy teeth
and gums, a professional cleaning and fluoride treatments, with visual and radiographic (x-rays) examination of the child's
mouth should be scheduled every six months.
The parents are instrumental in monitoring the child's daily tooth brushing
and their snacking habits. Frequent snacking throughout the day, Dr. Tate refers to as grazing and this habit will increase
the potential for your child's teeth to decay. Sugar intake is very important to monitor, as the constant eating and drinking
of sugar rich foods will begin to break down in the mouth and again will increase the potential for decay.

There is good news on the dental horizon in regards to significantly
reducing the risk of cavities and gum inflammation. A product called Xylito, that was discovered in the 1940's in the Scandinavian
countries during the sugar shortages in Europe, has been shown to have cavity fighting properties. Xlear Inc. (pronounced
"clear")reports that "Finland leads the world in overall dental health as they continue to depend upon Xylitol as a healthy
alternative to sugar".Xlear Inc. has developed products such as toothpaste, oral rinse, mints and chewing gum containing Xylitol.

ATTENTION PARENTS
Xylitol can be wiped on your infant
and toddlers teeth to help reduce the effect of plaque and cavity causing bacteria such as Streptococcus mutans bacteria.
There is available a product called Spiffies
that are individually wraped and can be torn open, wrapped around your finger and used in situations when brushing is not
possible. Dr. Ray recommends that Spiffies be used after every bottle including the bedtime feeding. Wiping the teeth five
times a day is considered optimum. The use of Spiffies DOES NOT take the place of brushing. Use Spiffies in conjuction with
daily brushing to maximize the preventive results.
Xylitol IS safe for your infants as it is a NATURAL substance found
in many fruits and vegetables and has been safley used for over 30 years.
